Is Now the Time for Therapy?
My goodness, we are careening our way toward Summer, aren’t we? I know many of us have to-do lists that get put on hold - and often stay on hold - during and well through the holidays. If finding a therapist is something you've been putting off there's no better time to get on it. Often people wait until they are in moments of crisis to begin searching for a therapist. The process can be daunting, using insurance tricky... Waiting until a moment of emotional distress can often yield mediocre results. Maybe you don't have the time to properly research, or the patience to wait for people to call you back. You ride through the crisis and then decide, "maybe I don't need therapy after all." Until the next crisis. Meanwhile you could be doing important work with a therapist to minimize these waves of crises or better manage them when they come your way. That being said, a crisis isn't required for a person to seek out therapy - plenty of people are feeling meh, or stuck or just want to explore who they are more deeply, so if that sounds like you then Carpe Diem!
